Beyond Keywords: A Practical Guide to AI and Social Search
10 September 2026
GEO, AEO and social search begin with the same question: can people find a clear, useful answer about your business?
Three service labels, one connected content plan
GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, is the agency term for work aimed at making a brand easier to discover and more accurately represented when people use generative AI tools.
AEO, or Answer Engine Optimization, describes content written to answer a question directly, in the words people actually use to ask it.
Social Media Search Optimization is about making your profiles and posts clear and relevant enough to be found when people search inside a platform rather than on the web.
All three overlap heavily with established SEO and content practice. None of them are official certifications, and none of them can promise placement. Treat any offer that guarantees a position in an AI answer with caution.
Make the answer worth finding
Start from the questions customers already ask you: what exactly is included, how it works, what it suits, where you are, how to reach you. Answer with supported detail rather than adjectives, and keep names, service descriptions and location consistent everywhere they appear.
Comparison content is useful when you can justify it honestly, and accuracy matters more than volume. Content that is out of date quietly damages trust.
Google's own guidance on AI features says that the familiar fundamentals of search-friendly content still apply to its AI Overviews and AI Mode, with no separate optimisation requirements; to be eligible to appear as a supporting link, pages need to be indexed and eligible for Search snippets.
That point describes Google's features specifically. Other assistants work differently and publish their own guidance, so do not assume one company's rules apply everywhere.
Write Arabic and English from real queries in each language. Translating a keyword list rarely matches how people actually search.
Create content around the question
On social platforms, the same logic applies in a shorter form. Use descriptive topics rather than clever ones, fill in profile fields properly, write captions that name what is being shown, and let short videos demonstrate the answer to a specific need.
These are sensible practices, not a claim to know a platform's exact ranking signals or which search features are available in your market at any moment.
A profile that says "creative solutions" tells a searcher almost nothing. A profile that names the actual services and says Riyadh gives both a person and a system something to work with.
Illustrative example: a business choosing a marketing partner
This scenario is illustrative and does not describe a real enquiry or outcome.
Someone is asking what a UGC campaign actually includes before they approve a budget. A useful page on the agency's site explains the difference between producing content and distributing it, and what rights are typically agreed. A short video answers the concern that comes up most often. The social profile lists the service accurately by name.
The meaning stays consistent across all three places. That consistency is the point, and it comes from clarity rather than from stuffing keywords, buying reviews or claiming endorsements you do not have.
Measure discovery without promising the answer
Watch the signals you can actually observe: relevant search traffic, in-platform discovery where the platform reports it, and the questions people bring to your enquiry form.
If you monitor how AI tools describe your brand, sample the same set of questions consistently over time. Outputs vary between tools, between phrasings and between days, so treat a single check as a snapshot rather than a measurement.
A mention is not an endorsement and not a sale. What matters more is whether the description is accurate and whether the sources it draws on say the right things about you.
The takeaway: aim for clarity you can verify. That is the part of this work you can control, and it is the part that keeps paying off whatever the tools do next.
